A map of ideas, not products

Every great house keeps returning to a few ideas: a screw, a nail, three golds, a clover, a snake, a pearl on a line. Across the whole market there are perhaps a hundred and fifty of them. This is a map of 114.

Most of them were born between 1920 and 2005, and houses have been answering one another ever since. Jewelry is a conversation. Your taste is a region, not a brand.

How it was made

Each house's emblematic collections were researched from the house's own site and press material first, then from auction catalogue essays and reputable press for dates, designers and origin stories. Where a fact could not be verified, we left it out rather than guess.

Each collection is described with editorial tags: its motif, whether it moves, where the idea comes from, its palette and weight. The map places collections by how much of that they share, with a gentle pull toward their school, so that schools read as regions and neighbours share an idea. The layout was computed once, then adjusted by eye. It is an editorial map, not a scientific one.

Prices

Prices are the lowest published price for a gold piece in each collection, in euros, on the house's own European site, with the date we read it. They are shown as facts. Prices change; the house's site is always the reference.

Images

Images belong to their houses and are credited on every page, with a link to the house. They are shown for editorial purposes. Any house can ask for an image to be changed or removed; it will be gone the same day, from every page at once.
