The story

New York designer Thakoon Panichgul made balance his first collection for the new TASAKI COLLECTION LINE in 2010, a year after the house brought him in as creative director. It took the Akoya pearl off the knotted strand and lined it up in a hard horizontal row, and the house's own retelling links the five pearls to keepsakes founder Shunsaku Tasaki carried from childhood. The bar has since been doubled, stepped, crossed and paved into more than twenty variants, from one-pearl charms to diamond chokers.

Lineage

Akoya Cultured Pearl Strand, MIKIMOTO (1893)

Balance takes the matched Akoya of the strand and lines them up on a straight gold bar, level as a spirit gauge.
