A fan, taken from the ginkgo-leaf pattern in the floor mosaics of Rome's Baths of Caracalla, worn as a pendant, an earring or a ring.

Hortensia

Hydrangea florets gathered into pompoms, garlands and posies, the flower repeated in gold petals, pink opal and pavé.

Chaumet's Hortensia and Bulgari's Divas' Dream each quote an empire. Hortensia, a 2013 high-jewelry collection by Claire Dévé-Rakoff, recalls Empress Joséphine's gardens at Malmaison in hydrangea pompoms of pink opal, coral and rubies. Divas' Dream goes back to imperial Rome: its fan, launched in 2016, comes from a ginkgo pattern in the mosaics of the Baths of Caracalla, and some pendants shade pink sapphires across it like tesserae.
