The quatrefoil and the flower

Hortensia or Calla

Chaumet · Vhernier

Hortensia

Chaumet

Hortensia

Hydrangea florets gathered into pompoms, garlands and posies, the flower repeated in gold petals, pink opal and pavé.

Calla

Calla

One smooth cone, furled like a calla lily, hung alone on a necklace whose clasp disappears.

Hydrangea florets, dozens at a time, crowd Chaumet's Hortensia: Claire Dévé-Rakoff gathered them in 2013 into pompoms and garlands of pink opal, rubies, sapphires and angel-skin coral, with Malmaison in mind. Vhernier's Calla keeps the opposite count, one flower and nothing else. A single cone of polished rose or white gold furls like a lily on a chain whose clasp is hidden, a design dating from 1998.
