FRED

Chance Infinie

A figure eight laid on its side, the infinity sign and the number of the house's eightieth year, made into a gold link.

Between the Finger

Van Cleef & Arpels

Between the Finger

An open ring that lies across two fingers, with a motif at each end turned toward the other.

An eight laid on its side has no end; the Between the Finger ring has two. FRED drew its figure in 2016 for the house's eightieth year, a gold link that doubles as the infinity sign, now called Chance Infinie. Van Cleef & Arpels opened the ring in 1972, setting a motif at each end and turning them to face each other across two fingers. Clovers, pearls and butterfly wings have since filled the form, and on the Lotus ring a mechanism unfolds petals across the hand.
