Between the Finger

An open ring that lies across two fingers, with a motif at each end turned toward the other.

On the Place Vendôme in the 1970s, two houses drew the connection between people in gold. Van Cleef & Arpels did it in 1972 with an open ring that lies across two fingers, a flower at each end turned toward the other; the form became Between the Finger. Chaumet did it in 1977 with Liens d'Or, a ribbon crossed into an X between two gold lines. Neighbours on the same square, they reached the subject five years apart, one leaving the ring open and one closing it.
