Chaumet

Torsade de Chaumet

Ropes of gold and diamonds twisting freely round a straight line of stones, after the spiral frieze that climbs the Vendôme Column outside the house's windows.

Between the Finger

An open ring that lies across two fingers, with a motif at each end turned toward the other.

The column in the middle of the Place Vendôme is in view of both houses, but only Chaumet turned it into jewelry. Torsade de Chaumet, shown in 2021, follows the spiral bronze frieze in white gold and diamonds round lines of rubies, emeralds or sapphires, at the scale of tiaras and lasso necklaces. Van Cleef & Arpels, on the same square, works smaller here: since 1972 its open Between the Finger ring has laid two facing motifs across a pair of fingers.
