Tilda's Bow

A silk bow, freshly tied by hand, rebuilt in rows of round and baguette diamonds, each baguette cut individually to follow the curve of a loop.

Jeux de Rubans

Ribbons of pavé white gold or plain pink gold loop and cross behind a single Akoya pearl, as if a present had just been tied.

Neither house dates its ribbon. Graff's Tilda's Bow, shaped from rows of round and baguette diamonds in white gold, is the London jeweller's most lifelike knot, its baguettes cut one by one to follow each loop. Mikimoto's Jeux de Rubans is looser, its ribbons of pavé white gold or pink gold crossing behind a round Akoya pearl, the gem on which the Tokyo house was founded. Graff's bow is the jewel; at Mikimoto the ribbon is the wrapping and the pearl the present.
