Serpenti at Bulgari

The story

Bulgari's first Serpenti, in 1948, was a bracelet-watch whose body was a flexible coil made with the Tubogas technique. In the 1960s the snakes took on bright enamel, and over the following decades a hexagonal scale became the line's signature. Serpenti Viper now carries that scale graphic into rings, bangles and necklaces, from plain rose gold to full diamond pavé.

    Tubogas, Bulgari (1941)

The first Serpenti bracelet-watch was wound on a Tubogas coil, so the serpent's body began as a spring of gold.

    Serpent Bohème, Boucheron (1968)

Twenty years after Rome wound its serpent round the wrist, Boucheron kept only the head: a gold drop ringed with beads.
