Liens at Chaumet

The story

Chaumet dates the motif to 1977 and the Liens d'Or ring, a spare band often worn as a wedding ring. Liens Évidence followed as a graphic, unisex line, Liens Séduction set the cross in diamond bangles, and Jeux de Liens in 2021 turned it into pendants and a medal to engrave with names or dates.

Between the Finger, Van Cleef & Arpels (1972)

Five years after Van Cleef set two motifs face to face across two fingers, Chaumet drew the tie between two people as a crossed ribbon.

  • Two Jean Schlumberger Sixteen Stone rings, one in 18k yellow gold and platinum and one in platinum, round diamonds held by small crossed Xs, on a Tiffany Blue ground.

Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany Sixteen Stone, Tiffany & Co. (1959)

Schlumberger stitched his diamonds in place with little gold Xs; Liens makes the crossed X the whole sign.

  • Pomellato Together ring: two thin rose-gold bands held together by one wrapped gold link, on a pale grey ground.

    Pomellato Together, Pomellato (2023)

Together draws the tie between two people as Liens did, now as two gold ellipses held by one wrapped link.
