Possession at Piaget

The story

Piaget launched Possession in 1990 as its first gold jewellery line built around a moving part, and credits the ring-within-a-ring concept to Yves G. Piaget. The turning band has since taken on Decor Palace, a hand-chased gold texture borrowed from the house's watch dials, and has been set with diamonds, malachite, carnelian, turquoise, sodalite and dumortierite.

Lineage

  • Trinity ring, classic model: three interlinked bands of yellow, rose and white gold, on a pale grey ground.

    Trinity, Cartier (1924)

Trinity's bands roll over one another; Possession gives a ring a second band that spins freely round it.

  • Roulette flip ring in white gold: a small circle of diamonds held upright on a pavé diamond band

    Roulette, Boodles

Boodles takes the ring you turn and makes it flip: a circle of diamonds swivels on the band to show its other face.
