LOVE

A rigid oval of gold closed by two working screws, so the bracelet goes on with a screwdriver and stays on.

Possession

A gold ring that carries a second band, free to spin around the finger.

Nothing on the LOVE bracelet moves: two working screws hold its rigid gold oval closed, and Aldo Cipullo's 1969 design is meant to stay on until a screwdriver opens it. Piaget's Possession, launched in 1990, is built around a moving part, a second band that spins freely around the ring, an idea credited to Yves G. Piaget. The LOVE locks, the Possession turns, and both have since been paved, set with coloured stones and carried onto pendants and earrings.
