Small cherry blossoms in white, rose or yellow gold, their petals beaded with diamonds like dew on a spring morning.
Light comes off the metal itself on Frivole. Van Cleef & Arpels hand-polishes each heart-shaped gold petal to a mirror, a finish it has used since the 1920s, and since 2003 has scattered the blossoms in loose, asymmetric clusters, a motif already seen on its clips and cigarette cases of the 1940s. Boodles' Blossom, made in London from 2016, gives that work to diamonds instead, sprinkled like dew over small cherry flowers in three golds.
