Bvlgari Bvlgari

The house's own name, cut twice in Roman capitals round a band or disc and worn as the ornament itself.

Pi

A disc of pure 24-carat gold with a hole at its centre, hammered by hand after the bi of ancient China.

Roman capitals on one, nothing but a hole in the other. Bvlgari Bvlgari repeats the house name twice round a band or disc, the classical V standing in for the U, a signature Bulgari counts among its five defining symbols. The Pi takes an older and more abstract sign, the bi disc of ancient China, made since 1991 in pure 24-carat gold and hammered by hand so that each surface is marked. Bulgari wants its name read; Jean Dinh Van wanted the gold to be felt.
