FRED

Pretty Woman

A heart within a heart, traced in pink or white gold and lit with diamonds, in memory of the necklace FRED lent a film.

In 1991, when France opened its market to 9-carat gold, Jean Dinh Van went the other way and made the Pi in 999 gold: a disc pierced at its centre, after the bi of ancient China, hammered until marked and hard. A year earlier, FRED's Rodeo Drive boutique had lent a ruby and diamond necklace to the film Pretty Woman, and the house later gave the title to a double heart outline in pink or white gold set with diamonds. Cosmology on one side, cinema on the other.
