Giardino

A four-petalled flower in openwork gold with a lace edge, set with one stone at its heart, taken from the gardens of Isola Madre on Lake Maggiore.

Rubies, tsavorites and pink sapphires sit at the heart of Giardino's openwork flowers, standing for the blooms of Isola Madre on Lake Maggiore, with blue sapphires for the water; Laure-Isabelle Mellerio cut the four petals with a lace edge. Cartier's Grain de Café has no centre stone at all. Its coffee bean, drawn by Jeanne Toussaint in 1938, is solid gold, grooved down the middle and now edged with diamonds.
