Precious Lace

Diamonds set in scalloped gold openwork that reads like antique lace, cut into tutu ruffles, waves and hearts.

A garden and a dressmaker's trim. Chaumet's Hortensia, first shown as high jewelry in autumn 2013, gathers hydrangea florets into pompoms and garlands in pink opal, coral and coloured sapphires, a nod to Joséphine's plantings at Malmaison. Precious Lace, from Geneva three years later, takes its flower from textile: Chopard holds diamonds in scalloped gold openwork, shaped as tutu ruffles and waves. Where Hortensia relies on colour, Precious Lace is almost all white light and pattern.
