Precious Lace

Diamonds set in scalloped gold openwork that reads like antique lace, cut into tutu ruffles, waves and hearts.

Sunflower

Harry Winston

Sunflower

Eight matched stones ring a single round brilliant like petals around a seed head, laid out with a compass for strict symmetry.

Symmetry is law in Harry Winston's Sunflower: eight matched stones around one round brilliant, the proportions set with a compass in 1950, the whole held in platinum. Precious Lace, Chopard's 2016 line, prefers the irregular rhythm of trimming, its diamonds caught in scalloped openwork that ruffles into a tutu or curls into a wave. Both are almost entirely white. Instruments drew the Sunflower, and the lace looks as if it were traced freehand from a length of fabric.
