The quatrefoil and the flower

Margherita or Lunaria

Margherita

Damiani

Margherita

A daisy, margherita in Italian, set in diamonds and named for the queen whose name it shares.

Lunaria

Marco Bicego

Lunaria

Flat, rounded petals modelled on the papery, moon-like seed pods of the honesty plant, in gold, diamond pavé or thin slices of mother-of-pearl and coloured stone.

Both names do double work. Margherita is the Italian daisy and also the queen, Margherita of Savoy, for whom Enrico Grassi Damiani made a jewel in the 1920s; the house keeps the flower in white gold and diamonds. Lunaria is the honesty plant and, through its Latin root, the moon its round seed pods resemble, a likeness Marco Bicego keeps in flat petals of gold and stone.
