Graff

Laurence Graff Signature

The facets of a cut diamond carried over into solid gold: bands, cuffs and chains whose surfaces break into sharp planes like a polished stone.

Perlée

Van Cleef & Arpels

Perlée

The house's oldest ornament, the polished gold bead, made into the whole jewel: bangles, rings and hoops lined with rows of tiny golden spheres.

The French perlée means beaded, and Van Cleef & Arpels' line is just that: rows of polished gold spheres, an edging from the 1920s that became a collection in 2008. Laurence Graff Signature is faceted instead, gold carved into the flat planes of a cut diamond before any stone is set. Graff's surface is angular, and the house presents the line as unisex. Perlée's is round and fine, made in rows to be stacked on the finger or wrist.
