The Cable Collection

Strands of metal twisted into a helix and bent into an open cuff, its two ends capped with gold and a coloured stone.

Perlée

Van Cleef & Arpels

Perlée

The house's oldest ornament, the polished gold bead, made into the whole jewel: bangles, rings and hoops lined with rows of tiny golden spheres.

Yurman's unit is the twist, first wound from gold wire in 1982 and later carried in silver with gold. Van Cleef & Arpels' is the bead, an ornament it had used since the 1920s to edge other jewels, then the frame of the Alhambra clover, before Perlée made it the whole piece in 2008. Perlée's beads are polished on both sides, the inside finished as carefully as the face, and a Cable cuff ends in stone-set caps.
