Piaget Rose or Alhambra
Piaget · Van Cleef & Arpels
Piaget Rose
A rose in layered gold petals, modelled on the 80-petal rose named after Yves Piaget, with a diamond at its heart.
In 1982 a Meilland rose won the Geneva new-rose competition and was named for Yves Piaget; in 2012 it became Piaget Rose, layered petals of rose gold, sometimes paved, sometimes opened around a stone. The Alhambra was already forty-four years old by then, a stone clover in a beaded gold frame that Van Cleef & Arpels drew in 1968. Piaget's is one real, specific flower; the clover is a sign of luck, built to repeat along a chain.
