Move at Messika

The story

Valérie Messika created Move in 2007, two years after founding the house, from a childhood memory of her father sliding diamonds between his fingers. The first piece was a chain bracelet with three travelling diamonds; Move Uno cut it to a single stone, and later lines carried the cage into bangles, multi-finger rings, titanium and high jewellery.

Lineage

  • Happy Diamonds Icons pendant in rose gold on a chain: a round glass-fronted locket with three loose diamonds inside, on a white ground.

Move takes the loose diamond out from under glass and lets it travel along an open gold cage.

  • Skinny rivière bracelet in white gold: a thin flexible line of diamonds forming a bangle, with a fine safety chain, on a pale grey ground.

Two years after Move, Messika put the movement into the line itself: tiny springs let a rivière stretch over the hand and close back.
