Macri

Yellow and white gold engraved with thousands of hair-fine parallel rigato lines that catch light like silk moiré, starred with diamonds set in tiny rosettes.

Belle Époque

Round diamonds alternating with rubies, sapphires or emeralds round a band, like frames on a reel of film running past.

Colour arrived late in Macri and early in Belle Époque. Buccellati showed Macri Color in New York in 2022, setting coloured stones against a rigato engraving that had long been worked in gold and diamonds alone. Damiani's band was born from alternation, round diamonds taking turns with rubies, sapphires or emeralds, a reel of film round the finger. In Macri the engraved gold is the ground; in Belle Époque the gold hardly shows between the stones.
