The Cable Collection

Strands of metal twisted into a helix and bent into an open cuff, its two ends capped with gold and a coloured stone.

Lines of light run across Macri, cut one by one with a chisel into yellow and white gold in the technique Buccellati calls rigato. Cable gets its lines another way: David Yurman twisted strands of metal into a helix in 1982, and the light follows the spiral. Buccellati's surface is flat and shimmering, starred with small diamonds in rosette settings; Yurman's is three-dimensional and rope-like, capped at each end with coloured stones. Macri is engraved; Cable is built up from wire.
