Tubogas

A band of gold wound tightly round itself like the flexible pipe of a gas line, tubo gas, so it springs round the wrist or neck without a hinge.

Four Belle Époque band rings in white gold, set with emeralds, sapphires, rubies and diamonds alternating with diamonds, grouped at the left of a wide white banner

Belle Époque

Round diamonds alternating with rubies, sapphires or emeralds round a band, like frames on a reel of film running past.

Screen glamour runs through both. Belle Époque comes from sketches Enrico Grassi Damiani made after a trip to Paris, a tribute to the city's 1920s film muses, its diamonds and coloured stones passing round the band like frames on a reel. Tubogas found stars of its own: the coil Bulgari first wound in 1941 framed Monete coins on chokers, one of them owned by Frank and Barbara Sinatra. In Damiani's band the gold is a setting for colour, and in the Roman coil it does the work alone.
