Buccellati

Opera

The Buccellati emblem, a four-petalled rosette of winding lines, cut out and worn as the jewel itself: in engraved gold, in diamond pavé, or laid over a pierced tulle lattice.

Sunflower

Harry Winston

Sunflower

Eight matched stones ring a single round brilliant like petals around a seed head, laid out with a compass for strict symmetry.

Symmetry governs both, by different instruments. Harry Winston's Sunflower of 1950 was laid out with a compass: a round brilliant, eight matched stones, nothing more, mostly diamonds in platinum. Buccellati's Opera rosette, the house emblem made into a line in 2015, is symmetrical too but filled with winding lines that recall Renaissance and Baroque ornament, and it is worked in engraved gold as often as in stones.
