Tulle

A half-millimetre sheet of gold pierced by hand into hundreds of minute hexagonal cells, so the metal reads like net lace.

Laurence Graff Signature

The facets of a cut diamond carried over into solid gold: bands, cuffs and chains whose surfaces break into sharp planes like a polished stone.

Solid planes and open mesh. Graff's Signature line treats gold like rough waiting to be cut, faceting bands and cuffs into sharp surfaces before setting a single stone. Buccellati's Tulle treats it like thread, sawing a sheet half a millimetre thick into hundreds of hexagonal cells after the needle lace Mario Buccellati admired in the 1920s. One borrows from the diamond cutter, the other from the lacemaker. Graff's bands stack and spin, and Tulle's lattice still carries the house's eternelle bands.
