Tulle or Fantina

Tulle

Buccellati

Tulle

A half-millimetre sheet of gold pierced by hand into hundreds of minute hexagonal cells, so the metal reads like net lace.

Fantina bangle: an open rose-gold loop with a pavé-set inner edge and a diamond-tipped end, on a pale grey ground.

Pomellato

Fantina

Seamless open ellipses of rose or white gold, edged with pavé and tapering to points, drawn from the clean lines of the riding world.

Fantina is Italian for a woman jockey, and Pomellato's 2020 line returns to Pino Rabolini's love of horses, keeping to the clean lines of the riding world. Tulle belongs to an older Milan, Mario Buccellati's 1920s openwork, in which gold sheet is sawn into hexagonal cells after Venetian lace. Fantina is solid and seamless. Tulle is mostly air, its lattice still the ground of the house's eternelle bands and of Opera Tulle.
