Clash de Cartier

Spikes, beads and square studs set in a moving mesh, a house of polish playing with a punk vocabulary.

Force 10

A length of braided steel marine cable closed by a gold shackle, named after a storm on the Beaufort scale.

Clash de Cartier was launched over three days of events in Paris in April 2019, and it borrowed from punk: spikes, beads and square clous de Paris that roll against one another in gold. Force 10 had come from a calmer world in 1966, Henri Samuel's sailing life, rendered as a steel marine cable held by a gold shackle. Half a century apart, each house took a tough, functional vocabulary into gold without sanding off its edge, Cartier from the street and FRED from the harbour.
