LOVE

A rigid oval of gold closed by two working screws, so the bracelet goes on with a screwdriver and stays on.

Tiffany T

The capital T of the house name, pared down to a bar, becomes the clasp, the terminals and the whole motif of a bangle or ring.

LOVE needs a tool to come off. In 1969 Aldo Cipullo, at Cartier New York, closed a rigid gold oval with two real screws, turned by the screwdriver that still comes in the box. Tiffany T, Francesca Amfitheatrof's first collection in 2014, is about a letter rather than a fastening. Its open wire bangle ends in two bars facing each other across a gap, the T of the house name pared to a line, after a monogram bracelet in the 1975-76 Blue Book. A screw, and an initial.
