Two gold half-rings that hook into each other like handcuffs, so the clasp becomes the whole jewel.

Cipullo's LOVE bracelet of 1969 is an oval of gold sealed by two screws, a vow that takes a tool to break. Seven years later Jean Dinh Van offered something lighter in Menottes, two gold half-rings hooked together like cuffs, usually worn on a cord or a chain and made in sizes from baby to man. Screws and handcuffs say much the same thing about attachment. What differs is how closely each holds, LOVE fixed on the wrist, Menottes left to swing.
