Jack de Boucheron

A supple gold cable closed by a faceted clasp shaped like an audio jack, wrapped once or three times round the wrist or opened out as a necklace or belt.

LOVE

A rigid oval of gold closed by two working screws, so the bracelet goes on with a screwdriver and stays on.

A screwdriver and a jack plug: fifty years of technology lie between these two closures. Cartier's LOVE, designed by Aldo Cipullo in 1969, is rigid gold sealed by two screws whose heads are its only ornament. Jack de Boucheron, from 2019, is supple gold cable whose faceted clasp copies an audio connector, wound round the wrist once or three times or worn open as a necklace. The fastening is the subject of both, fixed for good in the older bracelet and coiled loose in the newer.
