Chopard

Precious Lace

Diamonds set in scalloped gold openwork that reads like antique lace, cut into tutu ruffles, waves and hearts.

Fleurette

Van Cleef & Arpels

Fleurette

Seven round diamonds gathered into one small stylised flower, a corolla of stones with almost no metal showing.

Seen from a step away, both read as diamonds with very little gold. Fleurette achieves it by economy, seven round stones bunched into one corolla, a Van Cleef & Arpels motif since the 1920s and a collection since around 2000. Precious Lace gets there through openwork, its scallops and swirls borrowed from old lace and cut by Chopard into ruffles and hearts from 2016. Up close, Fleurette closes in on itself and the lace keeps spreading along its edge.
