Margherita

A daisy, margherita in Italian, set in diamonds and named for the queen whose name it shares.

Giardino

A four-petalled flower in openwork gold with a lace edge, set with one stone at its heart, taken from the gardens of Isola Madre on Lake Maggiore.

Italy runs through both. Damiani, founded in Valenza, took the daisy from Margherita of Savoy, the queen whose name means the flower, after its founder made her a jewel in the 1920s. Mellerio, a Paris house with Italian roots, found its Giardino on Isola Madre in Lake Maggiore: an openwork four-petalled flower with a lace edge and a pink sapphire, ruby or tsavorite at the centre. Only Mellerio's flower takes on the garden's colours.
