Africa

Slightly lopsided beads of 18k yellow gold, each scored by hand with a burin into thousands of fine lines, strung in graduated rows so the satin surface glows rather than shines.

Iconica Large ring: a wide, smooth rose-gold band with rounded edges and the Pomellato signature engraved inside, on a pale grey ground.

Pomellato

Iconica

A wide gold band with rounded, pillowy edges and the Pomellato signature engraved inside, made in widths from extra-slim to bold so several can crowd one finger.

Pomellato's first band ring dates from 1970, and for the house's fiftieth year in 2017 Vincenzo Castaldo softened and thickened it into Iconica, a pillowy rose or white gold band made in widths from extra-slim to bold, its signature engraved inside. Africa's yellow gold is worked on the outside, where everyone sees it: Marco Bicego's burin covers each bead with fine parallel lines until the surface turns soft and matte.
