Africa

Slightly lopsided beads of 18k yellow gold, each scored by hand with a burin into thousands of fine lines, strung in graduated rows so the satin surface glows rather than shines.

Rome's Colosseum, read as a stack of curving tiers, gave Bulgari the spiral band of B.zero1 in 1999, held between two rims engraved with the house name and made in one to five turns, in gold or ceramic. Africa's reference is the hand rather than a monument. Marco Bicego leaves its yellow-gold beads slightly irregular and scores them with a burin into fine parallel lines, strung in graduated rows that glow softly instead of flashing.
