Tubogas

A band of gold wound tightly round itself like the flexible pipe of a gas line, tubo gas, so it springs round the wrist or neck without a hinge.

Africa necklace of graduated hand-engraved yellow-gold beads laid in a circle on an off-white ground.

Africa

Slightly lopsided beads of 18k yellow gold, each scored by hand with a burin into thousands of fine lines, strung in graduated rows so the satin surface glows rather than shines.

Since 1941 Bulgari has wound Tubogas tightly on itself like the flexible tubing of a gas line, so the band springs round the wrist with no hinge; it returned in heavy yellow gold for the house's 140th year in 2024. Africa builds its rhythm from beads instead, each scored by Marco Bicego's burin into fine lines and graded in size along the strand, in yellow gold that glows rather than gleams.
