Africa

Slightly lopsided beads of 18k yellow gold, each scored by hand with a burin into thousands of fine lines, strung in graduated rows so the satin surface glows rather than shines.

Elsa Peretti Bone Cuff

A cuff modelled on the bones of the wrist, its edges rolled and its surface dipped, so the metal reads as anatomy rather than ornament.

Elsa Peretti modelled her cuff on the bones of the wrist, remembering the Capuchin Crypt she saw as a child in Rome and the curves of Gaudí's Barcelona; drawn in 1970 and sold by Tiffany from 1974, the Bone Cuff is cast separately for left and right. Africa sits on the body more loosely, graduated gold beads strung in rows, each one hand-scored by Marco Bicego's burin and left a little irregular.
