Les Pétales Place Vendôme

Cupped rose petals of pavé diamonds drift against a round pearl, as if blown across the Place Vendôme.

Alhambra

A four-leaf clover cut from stone and ringed with a double row of gold beads, repeated along a chain like a string of charms.

Mother-of-pearl is one of the stones Van Cleef & Arpels cut its 1968 Alhambra clover from, ringed with gold beads and repeated along a chain. Mikimoto, the house of the cultured pearl, goes to the source and puts a whole Akoya or South Sea pearl at the heart of Les Pétales Place Vendôme, with cupped pavé rose petals drifting against it. Those petals are curved and slightly hollowed, giving the piece a depth the clover deliberately refuses.
