Extremely Piaget

Gold chased and engraved until it reads like silk or bark, revived from the house's 1970s cuffs and sautoirs and lit with turquoise, opal and diamonds.

Elsa Peretti Bone Cuff

A cuff modelled on the bones of the wrist, its edges rolled and its surface dipped, so the metal reads as anatomy rather than ornament.

Elsa Peretti drew the Bone Cuff in 1970, and Tiffany introduced it four years later. Piaget's chased gold cuffs of the same decade, with bark-like surfaces and turquoise and lapis beads, returned in 2014 as Extremely Piaget at the Biennale des Antiquaires in Paris. One cuff belongs to the 1970s by birth, the other by revival. Peretti kept her surface smooth and let the form do everything; Piaget kept the form simple and worked the surface until the gold looked like silk.
