Elsa Peretti Bone Cuff

A cuff modelled on the bones of the wrist, its edges rolled and its surface dipped, so the metal reads as anatomy rather than ornament.

Two New York cuffs, twelve years apart. Elsa Peretti drew the Bone Cuff in 1970 from the bones of the wrist, rolling its edges and dipping its surface, and Tiffany introduced it in 1974. David Yurman, trained in direct welding, made the first Cable piece in 1982 by twisting some fifty feet of gold wire into a helix, and has cited the ancient torques at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Peretti cast anatomy; Yurman twisted antiquity. Both have moved freely between silver and gold.
