Antifer

A band with one sharp peak, named after a Normandy cliff, repeated row on row until the ring becomes a ridge.

Perlée

Van Cleef & Arpels

Perlée

The house's oldest ornament, the polished gold bead, made into the whole jewel: bangles, rings and hoops lined with rows of tiny golden spheres.

Every row of Antifer, Gaia Repossi's ring of 2013, rises to a single sharp peak taken from the profile of a Normandy cliff. Van Cleef & Arpels rounds everything off in Perlée, rows of tiny gold beads descended from an edging the house used in the 1920s and made into a line of their own in 2008. Both are made to multiply, Perlée in single or several rows, Antifer up to ten, and both have taken on hard stones, malachite among them.
