Mellerio Cut at Mellerio

The story

Mellerio ties the cut to the Beau Sancy, a diamond of Indian origin favoured by Marie de Médicis, the queen who granted the family its privileges in 1613. Its outline, an oval held within an ellipse, recurs through the house's work: solitaire rings, pendants and studs in white gold, and a gold Mellerio Cut motif paved with diamonds on the Lien chain.

Lineage

  • Solitaire 1895 in platinum: a brilliant-cut diamond held by four claws on a plain band, on a pale ground.

Mellerio keeps the lone stone but gives it a cut of its own, a softened oval in memory of the Beau Sancy.
