Joséphine

A diadem shrunk to the finger: a pear-cut stone rising from scrolled arcs, the way an aigrette rises from a tiara.

Mellerio Cut

A diamond cut of the house's own, a softened oval that carries the memory of the Beau Sancy, worn alone inside a fine halo of pavé.

Royal patronage connects them. Chaumet's Joséphine takes its name from the empress who was the house's most famous early client, and its form from the diadems Chaumet made for two centuries, a pear-cut stone rising from scrolled arcs. The Mellerio Cut looks back further, to Marie de Médicis, who granted the family its privileges in 1613 and favoured the Beau Sancy diamond whose outline the cut recalls. A crown's architecture in one ring, a famous stone's silhouette in the other.
