Portraits of named animals (Wladimir the cat, Hopi the hummingbird, Nara the fawn) built up in pavé and coloured stones, each a single character sitting on the finger.

Butterfly

The butterfly drawn in diamonds, from a pavé outline with an open centre to full wings of pear-shape and marquise stones.

Graff draws its butterfly almost entirely in white diamonds, either as wings of pear-shape and marquise stones or as an open pavé outline with a smaller butterfly at its heart. It is a motif more than a creature, light given a shape. Boucheron's Animaux de Collection are characters with biographies. Wladimir the cat wore a high-jewelry necklace in advertisements from 1978 to 1987, and in 2018 Claire Choisne gave him pieces of his own, with a sculpted gold coat and layered-stone eyes. London stylises; Paris portrays.
