Tubogas
Tubogas
A band of gold wound tightly round itself like the flexible pipe of a gas line, tubo gas, so it springs round the wrist or neck without a hinge.
Coiling is the shared craft, put to two uses. Bulgari's Tubogas winds a gold band round itself like gas tubing, a supple, hingeless spring first made in 1941 and later used for the first Serpenti watches and for Monete chokers. Marco Bicego winds much finer wire, by hand, into tight springs and gathers them into the soft strands of Marrakech, a technique he took from the chain workshop his father opened near Vicenza in 1958.
