Tubogas

A band of gold wound tightly round itself like the flexible pipe of a gas line, tubo gas, so it springs round the wrist or neck without a hinge.

Chopard

Ice Cube

A band divided into small gold cubes with chamfered edges, so light breaks across it like ice.

Across Ice Cube, launched by Chopard in Geneva in 1999, light breaks at the chamfered corners of small gold blocks, separated by grooves cut with tools the house spent nearly ten years perfecting. On Tubogas it runs in an unbroken spiral along a coil Bulgari first wound in 1941. The Roman bracelet bends because it is wound. The Geneva band stays rigid and lets its divisions suggest the movement, and it is thin enough to stack in three golds.
