LOVE

A rigid oval of gold closed by two working screws, so the bracelet goes on with a screwdriver and stays on.

Tiffany Lock

A bangle drawn as the elongated shackle of a padlock, whose clasp swivels and clicks shut like the lock it imitates.

Fifth Avenue links them. Aldo Cipullo drew LOVE there for Cartier New York in 1969, a gold oval with two screws that turns a bracelet into a pledge you cannot slip off. Tiffany answered from the same avenue in August 2022 with Lock, a bangle shaped like the long shackle of a padlock, its clasp swivelling and clicking shut, after a padlock brooch the house made for a couple in 1883. A tool closes LOVE, a hand closes Lock, and both speak of being bound.
