Chopard

Precious Lace

Diamonds set in scalloped gold openwork that reads like antique lace, cut into tutu ruffles, waves and hearts.

Frivole

Van Cleef & Arpels

Frivole

A flower of heart-shaped petals in gold polished to a mirror, so smooth the bare metal throws light like a stone.

Frivole hides nothing behind stones: its heart-shaped petals are bare gold, mirror-polished by hand so the metal flashes, scattered in asymmetric clusters since Van Cleef & Arpels introduced the line in 2003. Precious Lace, from Chopard thirteen years later, uses gold as a scaffold instead, a lattice of scallops set with diamonds. Frivole makes a mirror of its surface; Precious Lace makes a lace of its outline. Each turns the petal into something worn lightly on ear and finger.
